Steel frame buildings
DP Structures were commissioned to design and build new contemporary market stalls by ISG Regions to replace former stalls in the Northern Quarter of Manchester. A key feature was the use of stainless steel cladding and columns.
Composite cladded steel frame buildings can provide large fully-enclosed retail and storage areas protected against the elements.
The Project
The brief was to create a high quality purpose built building to cater for 12 market traders on a tightly constrained city centre site. The market had previously contained a number of timber market stalls, which had come to the end of their life.
The design had to respond to the site location in the norther quarter of Manchester - a vibrant creative urban area of the City Centre.
